Malaysia will open its campaign against El Salvador today in the mixed team event of the BWF World Junior Championships being held in Lima, Peru. El Salvador is the smallest country located in Central America. The Malaysian juniors are expected to sail through without facing any difficulties.

Malaysia has been drawn in Group A2 with three other countries that are India, USA and Zambia. The biggest threat for the junior team in the group stage is expected to come from India. Malaysia stands a good chance to top the group but in order to qualify for the semi-finals, they will have to overcome the winner of Group A1 which is more likely to be the mighty China.

There are four groups altogether, Group A, B, C, D and each group consist of two sub groups. The winners of each sub group will challenge one another for a place in the top four while the runner-up will battle for the 5th -8th placing. The remaining teams who lost in the group stage will still have a chance to play when they fight for the 9th placing onwards.

Bearing any upsets, Japan is presumed to top Group B1 to meet the winner between Hong Kong and Germany of Group B2 while Indonesia from Group C1 is expected to meet Thailand from Group C2. Korea may not have an easy path as they have been drawn in the same group as Denmark in Group D1 and the winner will face either Chinese Taipei or England from Group D2.
