Malaysia had an excellent start at the BWF World Junior Championships bulldozing El Salvador 5-0 in the first day of the group stage match. Anna Cheong Ching Yik/ Soh Wooi Yik began the ball rolling in the mixed doubles followed by Cheam June Wei and Goh Jin Wei. Tan Jinn Hwa/ Goh Sze Fei were next in action and the final match was played by M. Thinaah/ Teoh Mei Xing.
The juniors will next have two more countries to play today, against Zambia and USA before they meet their biggest challenge in the group stage, India tomorrow. Due to the thirteen hours difference between Malaysia and Peru, the players will only play against Zambia at 8pm Malaysia time and against USA at 3am tomorrow morning.
They are expected to win their matches against these two countries without facing any difficulties. In addition, this is also the right time to field players who did not play against El Salvador in order for them to experience the condition of the badminton hall especially in terms of the lighting and wind.
