WORLD NO 1 CHEN LONG HAPPY WITH STADIUM CONDITIONS

SHAH ALAM: Topseed and defending champion Chen Long of China has said that complaints on the conditions at the Malawati Stadium have been blown out of proportion.

"Much has been said about the windy conditions and some leaks in the stadium…but it something all players have encountered. To me it is nothing. To me the shortcomings have been blown out of proportion," said Chen Long after his match against Vincent Wong from Hongkong today. He won 21-17, 21-12.

Chen Long is in fact more worried about facing his compatriot Tian Houwei, the No. 8 seed, in the quarterfinals tomorrow. "I have adapted to the conditions in my matches so far. In the quarter-finals I will meet my compatriot (Tian Houwei) and I am more concerned with that."

"Houwei is now one of the three leading players in China and has improved in his game tremendously. It will be a tough match and with the stadium conditions fine with me, I hope to advance," said Chen Long, who is also the current World No 1.

Houwei stopped Taiwan's Hsu Jen-hao 23-21, 21-18 in his second round match which lasted 57 minutes.
