Malaysia proved their dominance in Poland after successfully bringing back two golds, two silvers and three bronze medals at the Varcolor Polish International Series. Ho Yen Mei emerged as the champion in the womens’ singles after overcoming teammate, Lim Chiew Sien , 21/16, 21/12 while Goh Jin Wei who lost to Yen Mei in the semi-finals settled for the bronze. The 2014 Under-19 champion was delighted to win today knowing that she lost to the same opponent one week ago.

“I used the wrong strategy against Chiew Sien last week and today, I knew that I had to change my game plan. Before coming to Europe, I put too much of expectations on myself and I saw the outcome In Belgium last week. So, this time, I wanted to be more patient to focus on each point and that really helped." said the 19 year-old Yen Mei.

As for their coach, Wong Tat Meng, he was a happy man to see three of his charges having notched up a podium finish here in Poland.

“Both Yen Mei and Chiew Sien were very competent today, however, the former handled the pressure well this time. Yen Mei was more focused and she was also patient on every shot. As for Chiew Sien, she played well in the first 15 points but once she started losing her concentration, she could not recover and eventually lost the second game. She has potential but she needs to learn to overcome the pressure to be a better player,” added Tat Meng.
