The ‘Hari Sukan Negara that was celebrated nationwide was a successful event especially for the national badminton players. This inaugural National Sports Day was launched by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in March this year. The main objective of the ‘Hari Sukan Negara’ is to cultivate a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians.

The highlight of the day was the presence of BAM’s deputy president, Tan Sri Mohamed Al-Amin Abdul Majid who was sporting enough to join the national players in the aerobic and ‘Zumba’ session organized. According to Tan Sri, BAM felt it was good to have an event like this as it is something different that the usual badminton training the players go through.

“When you have events like this, we are able to see the team spirit among players and it also helps to strengthen their friendship among one another. I also feel that the Hari Sukan Negara was a good idea for the people in general to have a healthy lifestyle,” said the deputy president.

Almost all the players, coaches and staff were present this morning at the Arena Sukan Champion badminton hall. Former world number one, Lee Chong Wei and his coach Hendrawan was unable to join as they had already left for Europe yesterday. It was a two hour session and for a change, the badminton players did activities which were not badminton oriented. Yet, they enjoyed themselves and burnt some calories.
