ALL-ENGLAND 2018: MALAYSIA’S CHALLENGE HALTED IN QUARTERS

Defending champion, Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong were defeated in the men’s singles and men’s doubles quarter-finals respectively.

Long-time rival, Lin Dan overcame Chong Wei 21-16 21-17 in a 51-minute battle while V Shem-Wee Kiong were outdone by wily Denmark duo, Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen 20-22 11-21.

In Round 2, promising youngster Goh Jin Wei bowed out with a 22-24 18-21 loss to Japan’s Aya Ohori while Teo Ee Yi-Ong Yew Sin went down fighting 17-21 22-20 13-21  to top seeds, Indonesia’s Marcus Fernaldi-Kevin Sakamuljo.

Last year's runners-up, Chang Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying went down fighting to China's Zhang Nan-Li Yinhui 22-24 20-22 in a 52-minute duel effectively ending mixed doubles' title aspirations.
