For all those badminton fans who knows Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari, they will know him as a very skillful badminton player who use to dominate the mens doubles in Malaysia. They will not also forget his back to back victories alongside his partner, Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif at the 2008 Singapore Open and Indonesia Open Superseries. They were only the second pair after Koo Kien Keat/ Tan Boon Heong to win back to back titles and Fairuz is also known for his strong defense.
Today, BAM welcomes Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari as the womens’ doubles coach for the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) players. Fairuz will be in charge of the form four and form five girls that are currently studying in BJSS. According to Development Project Manager, Kwan Yoke Meng, Fairuz was a good choice because of his vast experience in badminton.
“I felt that he is able to guide these players in terms of their skills and mental strength being a player himself who has competed in high levels for more than 10 years. Besides that, his experience as an athlete who started off his badminton career in BAM at the age of13 will come in handy to motivate the players to strive harder in achieving their dreams of bringing glory to the nation,” said Yoke Meng
As for Fairuz, it was like coming back to family. “I am glad to be back and although today is my first day as a coach, I have already set my targets and goals. One of it is to see my charges making it to the semifinals in next year’s World Junior Championships. For now, I have decided to work on their physical training because womens’ doubles have longer rallies compared to mens’ doubles and it requires enormous stamina,” said Fairuz at Juara Stadium this afternoon.
Among his best achievements as one of the top doubles player in Malaysia was winning the Indonesia and Singapore Superseries titles, a bronze medalist at the 2009 World Championships, 2007 Asian Championships and 2006 Asian Games.
