Sixth seed, Ooi Zi Heng/Soh Wooi Yik continued their fine run at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships after disposing Indonesian pair, Rizki Adam/Muhammad Fachrikar, 21/17, 21/13. The pair who had to play two matches today defeated Su Li Wei/Ye Hong Wei of Chinese Taipei earlier as they received a bye in the first round. Zi Heng/Wooi Yik will next face Sang Min Lee/Sung Seung Na of Korea for a place in the semi-finals.

In the boy’s singles, Lee Zii Jia was the only survivor after the defeat of teammates this evening. Zii Jia won both his matches against Lam Hou Him of Macau and Jung Soo Byun of Korea and awaiting him in the quarter-finals is Lee Chia Hao of Chinese Taipei. Zii Jia who is the German Junior champion is hoping for another successful outing here in Bangkok.

The others who had an easy win were Goh Jin Wei and mixed doubles pair of Chen Tang Jie/Pearly Tan Koong Le. In last year’s edition, Jin Wei had the best results making it to the semi-finals where she lost to the eventual champion, He Bing Jiao.


Despite the lost, the 16 year-old did mention she will come back stronger and this is her chance to prove it. She faces Kim Ga Eun of Korea tomorrow and a win will see her meeting the winner between Chen Yu Fei of China and Pattarasuda Chaiwanof Thailand.
