Reunited 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallists, Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong reclaim their spot as Malaysia’s leading men’s doubles pair in the world rankings released by Badminton World Federation (BWF) yesterday.
Their Perodua Malaysia Masters 2018 (PMM2018) runner-up finish last Sunday losing narrowly to Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardian 21-14 22-24 13-21 in the finals helped propel them to 16th in the charts.
Another pair returning to the fold is Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying who climbed 15 rungs to number 26th after finishing in the last eight of PMM2018.
Evergreen shuttler, Datuk Lee Chong Wei meanwhile remained as world number two behind Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen at the top. Promising youngster, Lee Zii Jia moved up five places to 48th while Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin leaped 18 spots to 85th.
In the women’s singles, PMM2018 surprise package Lee Ying Ying is up three place to 46th while Soniia Cheah and wonderkid Goh Jin Wei ascended to 27th and 38th respectively.
Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean climbed up to 16th and are now within one spot of the country’s leading women’s doubles pair, Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei.
