Cheah Yee See/ Chin Kah Mun who competed in the 40th Hungarian International Challenge has made it big when they clinched their first international title after being partnered together this year. As for Yee See, it is a sweet memory as this is her second time winning this championships.
She was the winner last year partnering Goh Yea Ching. They defeated Alexandra Boje/ Gabriella Boje of Denmark, 21/14, 22/20 in the finals that was played late yesterday night. The pair’s best result this year was a quarter-finals finish at the Belgian International Challenge two months ago.
National womens’ doubles coach, Wong Pei Thy was very pleased with their victory in Hungary. “I did expect them to go far in this competition and winning the title was even nicer. However, I feel that the duo have a long way to go although the win yesterday will surely give them the motivation needed especially being a new pair in the doubles department,” said Pei Thy at the Juara Stadium this morning.
In a separate news, top womens’ doubles pair, Vivian Hoo/ Woon Khe Wei crashed out in the semi-finals of the Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold to Poon Lok Yan/ Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong China, 15/21, 16/21. They will now focus in the China and Hong Kong Open Superseries beginning next year.
