Malaysia’s hero, Lee Chong Wei finally had his revenge against his longtime nemesis, Lin Dan of China beating the China ace, 17/21, 21/19, 21/19 at the Taihot China Open. It was sweeter for the Penagite to beat the Chinese in home soil. It was a mouth-watering clash between the two legends who kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Chong Wei who had previously lost to Lin Dan in the Japan Open back in September certainly has proven to the world that all he needed was some time to get back his form.

It was also a blow for Lin Dan who was probably expecting an easy win against Chong Wei, but, least did he realize that the Malaysian is not the same opponent he played two months ago in Japan. In today’s match, Chong Wei bounced back from a game down to win the next two games in match that lasted for an hour and thirty minutes, one of the longest match for today.

In the third set, Lin Dan was leading 15-10 and the match seemed to be siding the Olympic champion until Chong Wei started chasing and eventually led the match 18-15. Then, once again the points were tied at 19-19 before Chong Wei wrapped up the match with an accurate sideline smash that saw the Chinese only able to stare at the shuttle.

The Olympic silver medalist is just one step away from clinching his second superseries title, however he will have to overcome his next and final hurdle, Chen Long tomorrow. The world number one who defeated Chong Wei during the World Championships this year is gunning for his eighth title but based on Chong Wei’s recent form, he is capable of defeating the youngster.
