Malaysia’s badminton hero, Lee Chong Wei has set up another mouth watering clash against his long time nemesis and two times Olympic champion, Lin Dan in the semi-finals of the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) in Wuhan, China.
Chong Wei had a smooth sail today against Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei defeating the world No. 7, 21/16, 21/18 while Lin Dan was too good for Korean, Lee Dong Keun winning his match, 21/15, 21/11 in just 42 minutes.
Both Lin Dan and Chong Wei have played a total of 35 times with the majority of matches won by the Chinese ace. However, the last time both legends met was five months ago at the China Open Superseries Premier where Chong Wei played a superb game to overcome Lin Dan in the semi-finals of the tournament hence completing his collection of Superseries titles.
Nonetheless, with his current form especially after winning the recently concluded Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open Superseries Premier, Chong Wei who is also the 2015 World Championships silver medalist is expected to keep his fans on the edge of their seats when he plays against a player who has disappointed him numerous times in the most prestigious Games in the world.
It will also be vital for the Malaysian to win his match tomorrow to ensure he retains his position as the world No. 2 as this will be the final tournament before the Rio Olympics qualification period ends.
