Imperious National badminton champion, Dato’ Lee Chong Wei has moved up three spots to third with 73,624 points in the world ranking given by world badminton governing body, Badminton World Federation (BWF) released last Thursday.

Chong Wei’s ranking ascended after an imposing run in the Hong Kong Open last week which saw the 35-year old ousting Olympic champion, Chen Long with ease 21-14 21-19 the men’s singles final showdown at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon to claim his second Super Series title this season.

Current world champion, Victor Axelsen remained in the top spot with 79,580 points followed by Korea’s Son Wan Ho trailing in second place with 74,398 points.

The country’s top mixed doubles pair on the other hand, Tan Kian Meng & Lai Pei Jing maintained their position in the 10th spot despite losing in a bruising battle of the Hong Kong Open's first round to China’s Zhang Nan & Liu Xuanxuan 13-21 17-21.

Former world number one, Chong Wei together with Kian Meng & Pei Jing are currently in preparation for the upcoming Dubai World Super Series Finals 2017 in December.
