HIGHLY ANTICIPATED 2018 AIRASIA-BAM NATIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE (ABNJL) KICKS OFF TOMORROW

After a highly successful inaugural season that saw 2,930 players from 242 schools across 14 states and the Federal territory of Putrajaya, AirAsia-BAM National Junior League (ABNJL) returns at the state-level with the opener set to be played out at Bukit Dumbar, Penang tomorrow.

The inter-school badminton league adopts the Thomas Cup / Uber Cup model and is aimed at identifying the best talent among students aged 18 and below to don the proud colours of respective states in the national finals.

Selangor proved to be in a class of their own after bagging both the boys and girls title at the entertaining 2017 ABNJL finals defeating top seeds, Penang and Kedah respectively at Stadium Juara, in January this year.

The success earned 20 players from the winning Selangor teams automatic entries into state-of-the-art Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM).

“We are thrilled to see incredible number of participation from schools across Malaysia last year.

“We certainly hope to build on that success in this year’s edition in the hopes of establishing this tournament as a platform to unearth more young badminton talents,” said BAM General Manager, Michelle Chai.

This month will see a total of eleven state-level competitions being held in Penang (14-15 July), Putrajaya (17-18 July), Pahang (17-19 July), Negeri Sembilan (16-19 July), Sabah (16-20 July), Malacca, Perlis and Kedah (17-21 July), Sarawak (18-22 July), Perak (21-22 July) and Kelantan (25-27 July).
