IZUDDIN HOPES TO SHINE UNDER COACH CHEAH SOON KIT

Being the youngest and the most active one in the family, Nur Izuddin Rumsani was very happy to have caught the attention of the coaches with his skills and talents during the selection held last month at Juara Stadium. The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) had its selection last month to rope players in to strengthen the 2016 squad and Izzudin was one of them who was called up to join the national squad.

Although the 19 year-old is currently under probation, he wants to make sure that he performs well and secures a place in the national team. He also knows that he has to give his best and learn as much as he can in this short period of time to prove to all those who selected him that they made the right decision.

He started his first day of training at Juara Stadium yesterday under coach Cheah Soon Kit. When asked on how he felt, he said that he was nervous and at the same time, excited to be given the opportunity to train with the national team.

“I am grateful that the coaches in BAM saw some potential in me because in the first place, it is not easy to even get selected. Hence, joining the national team is surely a golden chance for me. The training was also different in terms of the intensity. It is almost double of what I use to train in the state and club. However, even how tough it gets, I am determined at all costs to achieve my goal which is to produce good results in the national and international tournaments this year” said Izuddin after his training at Juara Stadium.

Izzudin was the runner-up in last year’s 100 Plus National Junior Circuit Grand Prix Finals. He was previously training at Jaguh Tangkis Badminton Club under former All England and Commonwealth champion, Hafiz Hashim. Izuddin mentioned that Hafiz was pleased on hearing the good news but the experienced Hafiz did advise him to work hard and not to let this chance go to waste.
