The Malaysian juniors were consistent in their performance to make it to the quarter-finals of the Jaya Raya Indonesia International Challenge. Most of the finalist at last week’s Under-19 tournament in Kuala Lumpur will be in action today to chase for the title as they were unsuccessful to do so last week. Despite having four in the finals, the juniors could not clinch the title, ending with four silvers instead.
In today’s match, Cheam June Wei will be the only representative in the mens’ singles and he faces Hua Chun Liang of Chinese Taipei for a place in the semi-finals. Winning the match today will surely motivate the second seed after going through some disappointing outings in the past few months.
Mens’ double will feature Goh Sze Fei/ Tan Jin Hwa and Aaron Chia/ Sim Guo Zheng. Malaysia will also have players in the mixed doubles and womens’ doubles. Teoh Mei Xing who was a double silver medalist at the Maybank Malaysia International Youth U-19 has once again qualified for both categories. She partners M. Thinaah who was the singles finalist last week and for her mixed doubles, she is once again paired with Goh Sze Fei.
