JING YI FINISHES SECOND IN INDIA

Malaysia’s only survivor, Tee Jing Yi failed to secure the title after a hard fought match against Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in the finals of the TATA Open India International Challenge 2015 being held in Mumbai. Jing Yi lost the match in three games, 16/21, 21/11, 21/15. As for Pornpawee, this is her second international title after winning the Sydney International Challenge champion three months ago.

Jing Yi has lost once to Pornpawee during the Yonex Australian Badminton Open in 2013 and hopes were on her to turn the table against the Thai but unfortunately, she also lost in the three games. She was also a runner-up at the Victor Indonesia International Challenge and a win today would have been meaningful as this being her final international competition for the year.

However, it does not mean that she does not have any more tournaments as she still has to compete in the national leg, the Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals 2015 which begins next Thursday in Juara Stadium. She is the favorite to clinch the title but there will still be challenges from teammates like Goh Jin Wei and Ho Yen Mei.
