They are definitely proving their worth as one of the next promising mixed doubles pair after Malaysia’s top pair, Chan Peng Soon/ Goh Liu Ying. Tan Kian Meng/ Peck Yen was once again at their best today after checking into the semi-finals of the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix. They had a smooth sail against Lee Yang/ Kuo Yu Wen, winning the match 21/15, 21/15 in less than 30 minutes.

Kian Meng/ Yen Wei should receive credits for coming thus far in this tournament despite only being paired up just few months ago. They have so far competed in only two tournaments and the nailed it at the Vietnam International Series emerging as the runner-up just one week ago. They will next meet top seed, Ronald Alexander/ Melati Daeva Oktaviani of Indonesia.

They were the only pair to make it after the defeat of their teammates, Tan Chee Tean/ Shevon Lai and mens’ doubles pair of Teo Ee Yi/ Tan Wee Gieen. Chee Tean/ Shevon was defeated by a pair from Chinese Taipei while Ee Yi/ Wee Gienn put up a good fight against Takuro Hoki/ Yugo Kobayashi before losing 18/21, 19/21 to the Japanese. Independent shuttlers, Hoon Thien How/ Lim Khim Wah were also through to the semi-finals after overcoming a Thai pair.
