KIAN MENG/PEI JING DEFEATS SIXTH SEED TO ADVANCE TO NEXT ROUND

They are certainly showing a steady progress in their partnership as a mixed doubles pair and Kian Meng/Pei Jing have proven it once again by overcoming sixth seeds, Huang Kaixiang/Huang Dongping of China in the firs round of the Yonex Open Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold.

The pair won the match in two games, 21-12, 21-19 to meet a local pair, Wang Chi-Lin/Cheng Chi Ya in the second round tomorrow. Kian Meng/Pei Jing has a good chance of making it to the quarter-finals if they continue to stay focused in their next match.

In the men’s singles, Iskandar who had to play two matches today did not show any sign of slowing down when he won both his matches easily. He will next face former national player, Liew Daren in the third round tomorrow.

Goh Soon Huat was however shown the exit in the second round losing Hsueh Hsuan Yi in two games. In the men’s doubles, it was good news that Wee Kiong/ V Shem and Ee Yi/Yew Sin advanced to the second round, however it was unfortunate that the pair will have to play against each other tomorrow for a place in the last eight.

Among the others who won their matches today are Ho Yen Mei and women's doubles pair, Lee Meng Yean/ Chow Mei Kuan
