Five-time world champion Lin Dan advanced to the second round of the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open with relative ease. But the double Olympic gold medallist came away impressed with his opponent, Malaysian Chong Yee Han, who lost won 21-10, 21-15 in the first round today.
"I did not even know who Yee Han was but I saw him play against Kenichi (Tago) in the qualifying match," said Lin Dan, who won his sixth All-England title last month.
"I was impressed when he played Kenichi and also when he played against me. It (my win) looked simple but it is due to his lack of experience. He needs more exposure and play in more tournaments."
Despite his loss, Yee Han was all smiles for he was delighted with the opportunity to play the Chinese ace and in the process gain a wealth of experience. "It was a new experience playing against a great player like Lin Dan. I learned many new things from him today. He has superb skills and it comes with experience" said Yee Han.
