The SCG Thailand Open did not bring any joy for the Malaysian players as all of them were beaten today in the quarter-finals stage except for former nationals, Koo Kien Keat/ Tan Boon Heong who outsted juniors, Ow Yao Han/ Chooi Kah MIng . Amelia Alicia Anscelly/ Soong Fie Cho came close of making it to the semi-finals but were defeated by Koreans, Chang Yee Na/ Lee So Hee in a very close margin, 20/22, 18/21.

2014 Commonwealth champions, Vivian Hoo/ Woon Khe Wei and womens’ singles, Tee Jing Yee suffered the same fate when they too could not withstand the strength of their opponents. Jing Yee did well in the second round yesterday when she overcame world number 21, Porntip Buranaprasersuk.

However, she could not repeat the same feat against Sung Ji Hyun of Korea today losing the match in two games. As for Vivian/ Khe Wei, they tried their best but to no avail as the Koreans who are currently ranked 17 in the world were in top form today. A quarter-finalist at the World Championships this year, this young pair from Korea is already shaping up well in the senior level.
