Malaysia’s leading mixed doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying have sealed their second World Tour title of the season.
The world No. 5 displayed their mettle by coming back from behind to defeat Indonesia’s Hafiz Faizal-Gloria Widjaja 21-14, 16-21, 29-27 to reclaim the crown they last won in 2016.
“Even when we were behind, we never gave up and kept on going. Jordan is a powerful player. He is very strong. So, we tried to not let him dictate too much,” said Peng Soon after the 84-minute blockbuster.
The determined victory ensures Peng Soon-Liu Ying a flying start to their Olympics qualifying campaign.
For the record, the experienced duo had earlier won Thailand Masters in January.
The second seeded pair were the sole survivors in the event after Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing, Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong and Lee Zii Jia ended their respective campaigns in the quarter-finals.
