COUNCIL MEETING / AGM, 28 APRIL 2018

 

  1. WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY
  • For the first time in BAM’s history, the Council will introduce the BAM Whistleblower policy. BAM have worked together with the MACC to fine-tune the policy and are looking forward to continuing the close relationship with MACC in tackling any wrong-doings in continued efforts to protect the integrity of the national badminton.
  • The introduction of this policy highlights BAM’s open-door approach to transparency in all aspects of the Association’s business and activities and encourages employees or others to share their questions, concerns, suggestions or complaints.

  1. ASTRO KEM BADMINTON
  • Council agreed to endorse and sanction the activities of Astro-Kasih, namely the Astro Kem Badminton program for girls and boys under 12 years old. Our development coaches will be involved in the final selection camp, as well as the training camp overseas. Any potential juniors from this program will be offered the opportunity to attend the selection trials into our Academy.

 

  1. SUBSIDY FOR ORGANISING STATE JUNIOR CLOSED TOURNAMENT
  • Council confirmed the organising subsidy for State BA in relation to State Junior Closed tournament. The subsidy will be up to a maximum of RM6,000 per tournament and up to two tournaments per year. In order to qualify, the tournament must be for juniors under the age of 18 years old and must consist of at least 4 events. The introduction of this criteria will further boost grassroots development.

 

  1. COACH EDUCATION PANEL (CEP)
  • In efforts to beef up the coach education aspect, Council has approved CEP (that consists of A’amar Hashim, Wong Choong Hann, Rashid Sidek & Dr. Ong Kong Swee) to become a Standing Committee.

 

  1. CONFIRMATION OF COACHES ON PROBATION
  • Following recommendations by Head Coaches & review forms by players, the following Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) coaches are confirmed: Amelia Anscelly, Waheeda Abdullah, Hafiz Hashim & Lutfi Zaim Abd Khalid.

 

  1. TOURNAMENT SANCTION
  • As the governing body of badminton and to better streamline all badminton-related activities, the Council decided that that all organisers of international and national level tournaments must obtain a sanction from BAM.
  • With the sanction, BAM will be in a better position to govern the sport, by ensuring that matches are held in accordance to BWF tournaments and organisers use qualified technical officials.
  • In circumstances where a tournament is not sanctioned - Players and Coaches from BAM and our affiliates were found to have participated in the said tournament, they will be sanctioned. This also applies to BAM Technical Officials.

 

  1. RETIREMENT BENEFITS / AWARDS
  • Council approved the retirement benefits policy aimed at rewarding long-serving BAM officials; State BA Presidents (BAM Vice Presidents) & BAM Honorary Secretaries (BAM Council Member).
  • Benefits include RM1,000 per year of service & the official must have served at least 10 years.

  • Both the AGM and the Council approved the annual report and the financial statements of Year 2017

 

  1. APPOINTMENT OF AUDITORS
  • The AGM agreed to appoint Messrs. Gomez and Co. as BAM’s auditor for the year 2018.

 

  1. SELECTION OF EHIME AS BAM’S OFFICIAL TRAINING CAMP FOR THE OLYMPIC 2020
  • BAM has chosen Ehime as the national badminton training base camp in Japan. The camp will start from 2018 until the Olympic Games in 2020, covering both our Junior and Senior team.
  • In addition to training there, BAM’s junior team will also be given the opportunity to attend school in Japan.

 

  1. TICKET PRICES FOR MALAYSIA OPEN 2018
  • The Malaysia Open 2018 will be held from 26 June till 1 July 2018 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur. We are confident the line-up for this Level 3 SuperSeries tournament will be outstanding, featuring the world’s top 10 players in all categories.
  • The ticket prices were confirmed as follows:
    • Premium category: ranging from RM55 to RM150
    • Lower tier seating: ranging from RM35 to RM75
    • Upper tier seating: ranging from RM25 to RM50
  • Season tickets will also be available from RM160 to RM410.
