The players from Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will feature in two tournaments next week, the SCG Thailand GP Gold (28th Sept – 4th Oct) and the Kawasaki Vietnam International Series (30th Sept – 4th Oct). Among the players competing in Thailand are Chong Wei Feng, Liew Daren and top national doubles pair, Vivian Hoo/ Woon Khe Wei and Amelia Alicia Anscelly/ Soong Fei Cho.
Currently ranked 108 in the world, Daren has some catching up to do in Thailand. His best results this year was winning the Polish Open International Challenge in March where he emerged as champion. From then onwards, it has been nothing but disappointing for the Kuala Lumpur born player. As the clock is ticking for the 28 year-old, he has to prove his worth as many believe that he is talented and he still stands a chance.
While the seniors are competing in Thailand, most of the back-up players will be in action at the Vietnam International Series. Belgian Open runner-up, Joyce Choong/ Yap Cheng Wen, seeded second in next week’s draw will be hoping to continue their fine run when they meet a qualifier in the first round. In the womens’ singles, Malaysia will be represented by Belgian Open champion, Goh Jin Wei together with Lee Zii Yii and Lee Ying Ying.
