In the women's singles, S Kisona bounced back from a game down to win 18-21 21-10 21-15 over homester Airah Albo. 

Earlier, Soniia was forced to retire after pulling her hamstring in the first game against Myanmar’s Thet Htar Tzuzar 21-18 15-21 5-12.

In the other men’s singles encounter, Soong Joo Ven lost to Singapore’a Loh Kean Yew 17-21 16-21.
