The Maybank Malaysia International Youth U-19 will be held from 8th -13th September 2015 at Juara Stadium, Bukit Kiara. The total prize money of the tournament is USD15,000. Juara Stadium has also hosted the Malaysia Grand Prix Gold in 2013. There are 11 countries taking part with a total of 213 players and Malaysia has sent the most, 90 of them, followed by Thaliand, 42 players and Indonesia, 29 players.
In the boys’ singles, Cheam June Wei is the 2nd seed while R. Satheistharan is seeded 4th. Altogether, 8 players have been seeded from Malaysia in the boys’ singles category. In the boys’ doubles and mixed doubles, Malaysia have two seeded pairs respectively while girls’ singles and doubles have none.
Some of the highlights in the Maybank Malaysia International Youth U-19 are players who competed and fared well in the 2015 SCG Badminton Asia Junior Championships back in July will also be competing here. Among them are boys’ doubles, Lim Su Min/ Lee Hong Sub of Korea (semi-finalist) and Mek Narongrit/ Krit Tantianankul of Thailand (quarter-finalist), boys’ singles, Kantaphon Wangcharaen of Thailand (quarter-finalist) and girls’ doubles, Kim Hye Jeong/ Park Keun Hye of Korea (quarter-finalist).
