Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai lived up to their billing as the country’s top mixed doubles pair by claiming a historic German Open win. The World No. 10 duo averted a late surge by Danish pair, Niclas Nohr-Sara Thygesen to seal a 21-14 22-20 victory in the final showdown on Sunday.

National mixed doubles head coach, Chin Ee Hui was full of praise for the teamwork displayed by her charges to win their first international title of the year.

“I’m happy that both of them won (their first international title of the year). They stick to the game plan that we’ve discussed and they handled the pressure of performing in the final quite well. They are also doing very well supporting each other during hard times. I hope they can continue to perform well in the coming tournament, All England 2018,” said a pleased Ee Hui.

The illustrious All-England tournament will be kicking-off on Wednesday in Birmingham.
