It was yet another good day for mixed doubles pairs, Tan Chee Tean/ Shevon Lai Jemie nad Tan Kian Meng/ Peck Yen Wei as both pairs advanced to the quarter-finals of the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix. Joining them were mens’ doubles pair, Teo Ee Yi/ Tan Wee Gieen who will meet a Japanese pair, Takuro Hoki/ Yugo Kobayashi in tomorrow’s quarter-final match.
Chee Tean/ Shevon Lai did not face any difficulties defeating their opponents from Korea this evening to set up a match against Chang Ko-Chi/ Chang Hsin Tien of Chinese Taipei. Their best results so far is a quarter-finals finish at the Bonny Chinese Masters Grand Prix Gold back in April. Chee Tean who was suffering from a shoulder injury last month has certainly come back stronger to come this far in this tournament.
Another upcoming mixed doubles pair, Kian Meng/ Yen Wei continued their fine run after disposing their opponents Hung Ying Yuan/ Hsieh Pei Shan from Chinese Taipei, 23/21, 21/13. The duo who are also showing promises in the mixed doubles event did well last week when they emerged as the runner-up at the Vietnam International Series. They face Lee Yang/ Kuo Yu Wen of Chinese Taipei tomorrow for a place in the semi-finals.
