Before 2015 was over, V Shem/ Wee Kiong made sure they received a new year’s gift by winning their first title of the year. The duo kept to their words when they said that they are going to win the title at the 2015 K&D Graphics Yonex Grand Prix in California.

V Shem/ Wee Kiong seemed to have an easy match against Vladimir Ivanov/ Ivan Sozonov defeating the Russians, 21/14, 21/17 in less than thirty minutes unlike the finals played in the Russian Open last July where the duo were beaten 20/22, 19/21. They were also able to avenge their painful defeat especially because the Malaysians were leading in both games during the Russian Open but eventually paved the way for the Russians to catch up and clinch the title.

However, as said by V Shem, they were well prepared this time and they were determined not to allow another title to slip away from their hands. The 2014 Asian Games bronze medalist will leave California to compete at the Mexico City Grand Prix which will begin next Tuesday. Joining them will be mixed doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon/ Goh Liu Ying and womens’ doubles pair, Vivian Hoo/ Woon Khe Wei and Amelia Alicia Anscelly/ Soong Fie Cho.
