WEE GIEEN-CHUN KANG STOPPED IN ORLEANS MASTERS FINAL

Unseeded national doubles shuttlers, Tan Wee Gieen-Shia Chun Kang’s quest for their first international title was halted by World No. 38 pair, Mark Lamsfuss-Marvin Seidel of Germany in the Orleans Masters final in France, yesterday.

The youthful duo currently ranked at No. 71 in the world couldn’t reproduce the fine form in the final duel losing 10-21 18-21 to their more experienced and lanky German opponents.

National men’s doubles coach, Vountus Indra Mawan believes that the pair will benefit and improve from their Orleans Masters outing in the upcoming tournaments.

“Good performance, good fighting spirit and both were in the final to win it. They have exceeded our expectations and surprised us by upsetting higher ranked players. Every match is about trusting each other’s abilities and both did a good job. I’m sure they will learn from it and do better in future tournaments,” – Vountus told www.bam.org.my.

Wee Gieen-Chun Kang are set to depart to Finland for Finnish Open 2018 later today.
