Lee Chong Wei was definitely on fire today and the national number one was magnificent when he tamed Chen Long to clinch the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) title in Wuhan, China.

The world No.2 who had defeated Lin Dan in the semi-finals yesterday displayed another brilliant game against Chen Long winning the first game, 21-17 before losing the second one 15-21. The final game was however dominated by Chong Wei as he led the game from 11-9 onwards before sealing the match, 21-13.

This is also a repeat of the 2015 China Open where Chong Wei was the winner against Lin Dan and Chen Long  in the semis and finals respectively.

The last time he won the same title was ten years ago back in Malaysia overcoming Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the finals. Chong Wei’s victory today is surely a confident booster ahead of the Rio Olympics as he retains as the world No. 2.

Besides that, this also means he will not be drawn in the same half as reigning world champion, Chen Long as the BWF ranking list of 5 May will be used to allocate qualifying places where the Chinese is currently ranked No.1.
