Unseeded Ho Yen Mei proved her mettle with a victorious, battling display against Shiori Eribahara of Japan in Vladivostock today.
The 22-year-old Yen Mei capped an impressive campaign securing a 22-20 11-21 21-18 win in a 67-minute Russian Open women’s singles final battle. It was her second career title after winning the Polish Open three years ago.
Former National pair, Arif Latif-Azriyn Ayub on the other hand lifted the men’s doubles title without entering the court after second seeds, Konstantin Abramov-Alexandr Zinchenko conceded a walkover. However, the country’s leading women’s doubles Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean came up short in their bid to hand Malaysia the third title losing 11-21 18-21 to Japan’s Chisato Hoshi-Kie Nakanishi.
