Arshdip Singh Darshan Singh lived up to his top billing when his kept his composure intact to win the Boys’ Under-16 Singles title of the Second Leg, Group A of the AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour 2024 here at the Arena Larkin Indoor Stadium.
The lad from SMK Sri Andalas in Klang was made to work hard for his victory over Pahang’s Muhammad Shazmir Irfan Shahrul (ranked 3/4) when he had to concede the first set 19-21 before winning the next two sets 21-7 21-18.

In the final of the Boys’ U16 Doubles, Ahmad Qaid Darwisy Ahmad Fuad-Syed Harraz Syed Muzir from Melaka had to pull out all the stops before they were able secure the crown.
The No. 2 pair lost the first set 20-22 to Melaka teammates Curson Cheng Yu Yang-Wan Muhammad Darwisy Wan Hadelee before recovering to take the next two sets 21-14 21-12.
In Group B, KL’s Teoh Sue Mei took the Girls’ U16 Singles title, defeating teammate Wong Au Mei in the final that was played at the Dewan PBNK in Kota Bharu.
The top-ranked 15-year-old, who are actually partners with Au Mei in the Girls’ U16 Doubles, took just 35 minutes to win 21-14 21-11.
Over in Group C at the Kedah BA Badminton Hall in Alor Star, the battle for supremacy in the Girls’ U16 Doubles saw top seed Nurin Zahirah Haizal-Ooi Yu Han emerging victorious.
The Kedah pair overcame the challenge of Sarawak’s Janice Tchin Yao Xuan-Megan Tan Zhi Yi 21-13 21-12.
