In men’s singles, Malaysia’s World No. 48 Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin also saw his run come to an early end after losing to his Japanese opponent, 15–21 12–21.
In the men’s doubles, World No. 4 duo Goh Sze Fei–Izzuddin Rumsani fought back strongly against Taipei’s World No. 22 Liu Kuang Heng–Yang Po Han, sealing a hard-earned victory 21–23 21–17 21–10.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s World No.18 pair Arif Junaidi–Yap Roy King were edged out by the Korean-Malaysian duoGoh V Shem–Choi Sol Gyu, going down 19–21 13–21.
Malaysia’s World No. 5 Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun continued their solid form, securing their first win over Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjær–Rasmus Kjær with a convincing 21–11 21–16 result.
The No.34 Malaysian pair, Choong Hon Jian–Haikal Nazri, started brightly but were unable to close the match, eventually succumbing to Indonesian World No.32 Raymond Indra–Nicholas Jolaquin, 21–18 17–21 15–21.
In mixed doubles, Malaysia’s World No. 4 Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei lived up to expectations, powering past World No. 45 Liu Kuang Heng–Jheng Yu Chieh in straight sets, 21–16 21–14.
