The Malaysia national team fell to a 1-4 defeat against rivals, India in their final Group B match of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC).

Lee Zii Jia was not able to give Malaysia the head start against world No. 9 HS Prannoy in a tightly contested 21-18 13-21 23-25 affair.

Debutant Wong Ling Ching put in another solid display this time against 2019 world champion, PV Sindhu. The 19-year-old Sarawakian did not make it easy for Sindhu in the 13-2117-21 defeat.

Reigning men's doubles world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik gave Malaysia a glimmer of hope when they beat Chirag Shetty-Dhruv Kapila 21-16 21-10.

In the pivotal fourth tie, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah suffered a shock 21-23 15-21 defeat to the world No. 19 Treesa Jolly-Gayathri Gopichand and handed the tie to India.

In the mixed doubles, world No. 48 Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were beaten 19-21 21-19. 16-21 by world No. 26 Ishaan Bhatnagar-Tanisha Crasto.

With the defeat, Malaysia finished second to India in Group B but both teams qualified for the last eight.
