The young Malaysian women’s team bowed out of the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2022 semi-finals.
Despite putting up a courageous effort, the youthful team fell short in the last four battle against the experienced South Korea 0-3 at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam.
The Koreans took an early lead through Sim Yujin’s 21-17 21-16 win over national No. 1 S Kisona.
Scratch pair of Pearly Tan-Valeree Siow couldn’t replicate the heroics of their first outing after going down to Baek Ha Na-Seong Seung Jeon 15-21 14-21.
In the deciding match, 18-year-old Siti Nurshuhaini’s determined efforts were thwarted by Lee Se Yeon 11-21 21-15 13-21.
For the record, it is the second straight semi-final appearance for Malaysia. Finishing in the top four meant Malaysia has qualified to the finals of the Thomas Cup scheduled to take place in Bangkok this May.
