Malaysia’s women's doubles Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah secured their semifinals at the Kumamoto Masters 2025 following a gruelling straight-sets.

The top seeded Malaysian pair defeated Hsu Yin Hui-Lin Jhih Yun from Chinese Taipei 21-13 21-17 in 39 minutes encounter at Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium, Japan.

Meanwhile, professional men’s doubles pair and second seed Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzudin Rumsani also moved to the last eight as they got better of Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan of Chinese Taipei 21-16, 10-21, 21-16.

In another men’s doubles match, Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri suffered an early exit after losing to Taiwanese pair Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Wang Chi Lin 16-21, 16-21, while Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King ended their campaign after losing 21-19 21-14 to Japanese’s pair, Hiroki Modorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita.

In women's singles, Wong Ling Ching’s run also came to an end against former World Champion Ratchanok.

A remarkable journey to Malaysian women’s singles as Ling Ching becomes the first Malaysian women’s singles player to reach a SUPER 500 quarterfinal since Goh Jin Wei at the Hong Kong Open 2023.
