PETRONAS U-18 CHAMPS: A FIELD DAY FOR NATIONAL JUNIORS

Players from the BA of Malaysia development programme dominated proceedings on the first day of the PETRONAS National Under-18 championships today.

Top seed Eugene Ewe Eon kept the flag flying high with a 21-12, 21, 21-8 win over Alex Zi Xiang in the second round.

Aaron Tai Wei Win fought back gallantly to carve a 13-21, 21-19 and 24-22 win over Azuan Amirol Imran from SMK Taman Jasmin in Kajang.

"I made unforced errors but found my way back to win," said Aaron.

Ting Wen Xuan, seeded 5-8th, won 21-18 and 21-13 against Andrew Aguwell of Sabah.

In the girls events, the BAM players made it through the first round.

Today was the first day of the championship which is being held at the Selangor BA hall in Kampung Attap. The tournament ends on 21 August (Sunday).
