PETRONAS U-18 CHAMPS: CASSEY, DANIA CONTINUE TO SHINE

Cassey Ryan Rompog and Dania Sofea Zaidi continue to draw the attention in the PETRONAS National Under-18 Championships 2022.

The unseeded Cassey from Sabah ended Teh Xin Ying's run with a 21-14, 21-11 win to set up a fourth round clash against Dania.

It will be an exciting and challenging match for Cassey against the 5-8th seeded Dania from Johor. Dania booked her ticket with a 21-10, 21-15 win over Tan Xin You.

Malacca's Shaneesa Shahidi is also on a roll, defeating BAM's Christine Lam Mei He 17-21, 21-18, 21-10 in the second round and then defeating Selangor's Chow Hui Er 21-18, 10-21 and 21-11 in the next round.

Top seed Ong Xin Yee continued her winning streak with a 21-8, 21-7 win over Amanda Yap Hwa Leng.

In the boys singles, Pang Jing Yao of Selangor surprised BAM's Muhammad Adam Shaz (5-8) in a three-set battle to win 16-21, 21-19, 21-6. Pang went on to beat Heng Zi Hin 21-14, 21-12 in the fourth round.

BAM's V Poopathi, seeded 5-8th, realised his hopes of nearing the quarterfinals with a 21-19, 21-17 victory over Shayne Ong Yung Jun of Penang.

In other matches, top seed Eugene Eon Ewe advanced to the fifth round with a 21-10, 21-10 win against Leong Hou Xuan while No 2 seed Lok Hong Quan stopped Shim Hymns Issac 21-12, 21-18 in the third round.
