Malaysian duo, Beh Chun Meng and Goh Boon Zhe, had to settle for second spot after going down in the men's doubles final of the PETRONAS Malaysia International Series at Arena Badminton Perak, Ipoh today.
Chun Meng-Boon Zhe would have wanted to claim the title on home ground in their first ever senior tournament final but China's Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi were in good form today and won the contest 21-11, 21-13.
Indonesia's Syabda Perkasa Belawa came out fighting and took the men's singles crown today. The eighth-seeded Syabda defeated China's Lei Lan Xi 21-17, 21-18 in the final.
Meanwhile, China's Gao Fang Jie snatched the women's singles title after outplaying Chiu Pin Chian 21-10, 21-16.
In an all-China women's doubles final, Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning had to bring out their best to defeat Li Yi Jing-Luo Xu Min in a match that lasted an hour. Sheng Shu-Tan Ning won 24-22, 21-16.
The mixed doubles was also an all-China affair but it was Cheng Xing-Chen Fang Hui who prevailed to grab the title today. It was a massive battle but Cheng Xing-Fang Hui emerged tops when they beat Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin 26-24, 21-18.
