Brave young Malaysians went down 1-4 to hosts, Denmark in the Uber Cup Group D match opener at the Ceres Arena in Aarhus.

Leading women's singles, S Kisona had a solid headstart against world No. 12 Mia Blichfeldt 7-2 before the Dane bounced back to win 21-11 21-7.

Scratch pair, Lee Meng Yean-M Thinaah showed no fear against world No. 16 Maiken Freurgaard-Sara Thygesen in their 70-minute defeat 19-21 21-10 13-21.

The 2017 Asian Junior Championships silver medallist, Eoon Qi Xuan clawed one back for Malaysia through a morale-boosting 18-21 21-18 21-15 win over Line Christophersen who is ranked 100 places higher than the Perak-born shuttler.

World No. 25 doubles, Amalie Magelund-Freja Ravn subdued Teoh Mei Xing-Yap Ling 21-13 21-19 to confirm the hosts' win.

18-year-old Letshanaa showed valiant fighting spirit against world No. 35 Line Kjaersfeldt before losing 18-21 14-21.

The Malaysian ladies will next face China at 7.30pm (MYT) today.
