National boys' doubles shuttlers Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing gave their all but had to settle for the silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in Yogyakarta.
The top-seeded duo fell 13-21 11-21 to China's fifth-seeded Hu Keyuan and Lin Xiangyi in the final at the Among Rogo Sports Hall on Sunday.
This was the third meeting between the pairs, with the Malaysians winning both previous encounters in March at the German Junior and Dutch Junior International.
The last Malaysian boys' pair to win silver at this competition was Ow Yao Han and Yew Hong Kheng in 2010, while Mak Hee Chun and Teo Kok Siang were the last to claim gold in 2008.
In other news, men’s singles shuttler Justin Hoh narrowly missed out on the Northern Marianas Open title, losing to Taiwan’s Cheng Kai 12-21 20-22 in the final.
