World No. 5 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah held their nerves to book the semi-finals spot, keeping Malaysian hopes alive for at least a bronze finish.

It has been a 12-year wait for a women’s doubles medal, with Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei last securing bronze at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

Pearly-Thinaah produced another convincing performance to defeat India's Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela with straight-games (21-18, 21-9).

Pearly-Thinaah are set to face formidable rivals from China, World No. 1 Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, in men's doubles, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani were unable to overcome reigning world champion Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang.

Going down 13-21, 17-21 in 29 minutes, it was their fourth lost in five meetings.

Pearly-Thinaah will be the only Malaysian pair left standing in tomorrow’s semi-finals.
