The second leg of the BAM National Under-18 Championships 2026 concluded with the BAM junior squad claiming four titles across the five events in Alor Setar, Kedah.
In the men’s doubles, Irfan M. Shazmir-Damien Ling defeated fellow teammates Khairul Azlan Khashah-Yusuf M. Iqbal 15-9, 15-13 in 22 minutes.
Shazmir expressed his relief after securing the title, particularly after playing in challenging court conditions.
“I feel very relieved after the final shuttle secured the points for us. The court was quite hot and stuffy, but we still managed to fight until the very last point,” said Shazmir.
Shazmir added that both pairs had to make adjustments during the final as they train under the same coach.
In the mixed doubles, Irfan M. Shazmir-Genevie Lim claimed the title after defeating Yusuf M. Iqbal-Teh Si Yan 15-11, 15-10 in 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Lim Boon Le secured the men’s singles title after overcoming Chong Lee Qian 9-15, 17-15, 15-8 in 50 minutes.
In the women’s doubles, Nur Aina Maisarah Hatta-Teh Si Yan defeated Rachel Tan-Teh Xin Ying 15-11, 16-14 in 30 minutes to claim the title.
In the women’s singles, Sabah’s Saidatul Saadiah overcame national junior Lee Kay Xin 7-15, 17-15, 15-8 in a 50 minute battle.
