Malaysian mixed doubles shuttlers Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin concluded their impressive campaign at the China Masters with a runners-up finish after a valiant effort in the final.

The world No. 23 pair pushed top seeds and world No. 2 Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping to the limit before falling 23-21 23-25 16-21 in a grueling 96-minute showdown at the Shenzhen Gymnasium on Sunday.

Pang Ron-Su Yin came agonizingly close to a massive upset, holding match point at 22-21 in the second game after securing the opener. However, the experienced Chinese duo managed to turn the tide and claim the title.

Despite the narrow defeat, Pang Ron and Su Yin can take pride in their journey to the final, which included stunning victories over world No. 3 Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin of China and Hong Kong’s world No. 7 Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet.

The second-place finish marks the duo’s best achievement since teaming up last year, signaling their potential as a rising force in the mixed doubles circuit.
