With just four contenders left standing, the semi-finals promised a fierce battle for a place in the title decider.

Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing extended their impressive upset run by overcoming Germany’s world No. 27 Marvin Seidel-Thuc Phuong Nguyen, who had previously knocked out China’s second seeds Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin in the Round of 16.

Pang Ron-Pei Jing fended off a spirited German challenge, securing a hard-earned 21-17, 20-22, 21-18 victory in 57 minutes.

World No. 4 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah kept the momentum going, easing past Bulgaria’s eighth seeds Gabriela Stoeva-Stefani Stoeva, 21-12, 21-15, to take a 5-1 lead in their head-to-head encounters.

The all-Malaysian men's doubles clash was called off after Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik withdrew, handing Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun a walkover into the semi-finals.

The match lasted just two minutes, with Man-Tee leading 5-0 before Chia-Soh retired from the match.

World No. 5 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani notched their third win over Korea’s world No. 1 Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae in seven meetings, securing 21-15, 21-18 in 36 minutes.

The semi-final line-up is set, with Pang Ron-Pei Jing facing China’s Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui and Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah meeting Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi.

Both Malaysian men’s doubles will face Indonesian opposition, as Man-Tee meets Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin and Fei-Din takes on Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin.

Wins for Man-Tee and Fei-Din would guarantee an all-Malaysian showdown in the men’s doubles final.
