After ushering the holy month of Ramadan in style by defeating higher ranked homesters Eloi Adam-Julien Maio 21-18 21-16 to reach the finals of the Orleans Masters, young pair Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Haikal Nazri's hope of landing their first title of the year were dashed by COVID-19.

This came after Haikal tested positive following a mandatory PCR test hours before the Malaysian duo were to step into the court and face Dutch pair Ruben Jille-Ties Van Der Lecq.

The world No. 103 had earlier pulled off one of the tournament's biggest upsets after claiming the scalps of world No. 30 Popov brothers, Christo & Toma 19-21 24-22 21-19 in the opening roun.
