Standing at 1.38m, Aaron Tai is the smallest player in the national badminton center of excellence, Akademi Badminton Malaysia.
His talents were first spotted by Melaka BA at the age of 10 through a masterful performance in the BAKTI Junior Championships.
En route to joining the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) setup early this year, Aaron made waves at the U-12 junior circuit. He was crowned boys’ doubles champion at the BTY Junior U-13 International Championships and the National Schools (MSSM) badminton competition in 2018.
The 13-year-old shuttler hasn’t looked back since and proved that size does not matter by qualifying to the Round of 16 at the VICTOR National U-18 Championships in Alor Setar surpassing much older and bigger counterparts.
WHAT THE COACH SAID
Hafiz Hashim: "Aaron is an accomplished player at the national U-12 level. In spite of his diminutive size, he is skillful, anticipates situations well and very agile on court. One to look out for in the future."
