Zhi Shin’s talent as a rising badminton prospect became evident when she earned a podium finish at the Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) tournament.
Discovered by the Penang BA at just 10 years old, the Bukit Mertajam born-lass honed her skills under their guidance before joining the national setup in March last year, proving her potential on both national and international stages.
She carried that momentum into 2025, starting the year on a high by overcoming more experienced opponents to claim the Women’s Singles title at the PETRONAS National Under-21 Championships in Kuantan, Pahang.
Her rapid rise has now earned the 17-year-old a promotion to the national senior team in February.

COACH’S INSIGHT
Aaron Lee: “My focus with her was to develop a strategy that complements her strengths. She is already very fit and fast, though she lacks a bit of strength. Our main priority is building her power and refining a game plan that suits her style.”
