Siti Zulaikha Azmi landed her first international crown in style when she dumped China's Luo Heng Xuan for the Women's Singles crown PETRONAS Malaysia International Series 2024 here in Johor.

The 18-year-old from Melaka showed her promise with a straight set 21-13 21-16 victory that took just 36 minutes to wrap up.

"Alhamdulillah, I am truly grateful for today’s victory. I managed to stay focused and stick to the planned strategy. Sheng Xuan is a great player, so this win means a lot to me," said Siti.

"This success is a source of motivation for the upcoming tournaments. It’s not just the result of my hard work but also the support from my family, coaches, and everyone who has encouraged me. This win boosts my confidence to keep moving forward, reach the next level, and further improve my game.

"I feel this is the beginning of my journey to challenge myself at a higher level. I realize there’s still much to improve, but I’m ready to face the challenges and give my very best," she added.

Malaysia's hope for another crown was dashed in the Women's Doubles when the second seeded pair of Cheng Su Hui-Lee Xin Jie fell 13-21 18-21 to Lin Fang Ling-Zhou Xin Ru from China in the final.
